  1. How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Observant, Organized, and Optimistic
  2. What draws you to nonprofit work? I’ve always to help people achieve their goals in any way possible. Putting a spotlight on the positive and conquering the negative.
  3. What was the last piece of art (book, music, movie, etc) that moved you, and why? The last piece of art that moved me would be “Die with You” by Beyoncé. She writes about her love for her child and runs through the emotions of the things she wishes she could do with them. I have an unbreakable love for my parents, and it draws my emotions for them to the surface.
  4. What was your first job, and what lesson did you take from it that you still use today? My first job was working for Noodles and Co. as a team member. I was the cashier, server, host, and busser. I learned a lot of how to organize my time and communicate to my team members quickly and efficiently.
  5. To be successful, what’s the most important skill a professional should develop? The most important skill I believe is communication. It is a huge part of the world and no one can read minds, being able to communicate either verbally, visually, or written is a key item to success.
  6. Who makes you laugh the hardest? I would say myself but that would be a little narcissistic. The person who makes me laugh the most would be my best friend, Angel. She knows all the ways to make me mad, but she also knows the way to make me smile no matter what. I can always count on her for a positive boost or a quick pep talk to get me through the day
  7. What was the worst purchase you’ve ever made?I’m an impulse amazon buyer, especially for small gadgets that I think will make my life a little easier. I’ve spent tons of money of phone tripods because I believe myself to be an amateur nature photographer/videographer. But alas the tools and gadgets have not helped me much.
  8. Dogs or cats? Dogs, I have a small Shih Tzu at home. I call him my one and only child, but he likes my mom more.
  9. Beatles or Elvis? Beatles, I feel like I know more of their songs thanks to movie that I’ve watched.
  10. Who do you call first with good news? I would usually text my mom first and then I would FaceTime my best friends and see who answers first.
  11. Who has most impacted your professional life? The people who have most impacted my professional life would be my Clark College Supervisor. She gave me the first opportunity to grow my skills in an office setting and has been understanding and flexible with my schedule before I graduated University and even now. I thank her so much for acting as a mentor these past 4 years.
  12. What was your first record, CD, or cassette you bought? If I remember correctly, the first CD that I purchased on my own would be Beyoncé self-titled album in December 2013. It was the first time I had real freedom to purchase things on iTunes.
  13. Who do you wish you could meet again for the first time? I wish I could meet my grandfather again. He was the best and he always knew how to make me laugh when I was younger.
  14. Favorite Holiday? Fourth of July, I love the firework display.
  15. What travel experience has most influenced your life? Traveling far from home alone has always been a scary thing for me. I feel very paranoid that something will happen, and I won’t be with a family member or friend. My mind plays though different scenarios of what could happen. I always hold my breath until the end of the trip in case it was my last. But I recently took an emergency trip to California that made me forget all the fear that I had about traveling alone and leaving my comfort zone and the comfort of having someone by my side to ease the paranoia.
  16. What inspires you to do your best work? My biggest inspiration is the proudness my mom will feel when she looks at me. I want to try to be successful in everything that I do so my mom knows that she raised me to be great. She’s my biggest inspiration because no matter how tired she is she continues to push forward and raise my brothers and have adventures and work hard to give my brothers and I everything we have. I want to make sure that I follow her example and go beyond her expectations of me.
  17. How do you restore your energy when you’re feeling worn down or burnt out? I try my best to not show that I am burned out. I usually push through the feeling and make it home in time for me to relax and unwind. I usually try to restore energy just by relaxing, taking a breather from time to time helps me get my mood back up.
  18. Is there a humanitarian that has left an impression on you? I would say Beyoncé, she holds a big name in the entertainment industry. But behind the scenes she’s built shelters for the homeless in Texas. She co-founded Chime for Change with Salma Hayek to aid young women and girls in pursuit of their dreams.
  19. If a documentary was made in your life, what actor or actress would you want to play you? Harry Shum Jr. from Glee and Shadowhunters. He was a secondary character on Glee as a backup dancer and vocalist. But I think he has the right height and stature for an older version of myself.
  20. Favorite movie quote? “Hakuna Matata!” – Lion King (1994)
